This summer, students will have the opportunity to participate in a pilot program through the Wesley Community Center in Houston, TX called Good for a Guitar

The program will span 10 weeks over the summer of 2015, offering guitar lessons to the program's participants twice a week, at no cost to the students.

The primary goal of the program is to teach Junior High and High School-aged students the basics of playing guitar while working towards an end-of-program recital. Upon successfully completing the entire program, the students will be given the guitars they've spent the summer learning how to play.

The #Good4AGuitar program hopes to provide students/kids an opportunity to learn an instrument that for many reasons might have never otherwise been made available. The program also hopes to help hedge against summer learning loss.

It's about music, but it's about providing horizon-broadening experiences to kids in our (Houston) community.
